Course Overview:
Welcome to the Lifesaver 101 Online portion of Blended Standard First Aid and CPR level HCP Re-certification.
This online course is designed for Health Care Professionals and Health Care Students requiring First Aid & CPR and AED at a level which can be implemented in health care settings. It is designed to provide innovative, on-line delivery method for First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) theory. The information you learn in this course will then be blended with traditional classroom practical exercises and evaluation. You must complete both the online and in classroom portions of this program to receive a valid First Aid & CPR Certification.
COVID-19 FIRST AID CERTIFICATION PROTOCOL
This protocol has been approved by the WSIB, the governing body for all first aid providers in Ontario, to ensure those who require first aid training for employment or education purposes can receive their certification.
Remember that you will be completing the online knowledge acquisition portion of the first aid certification. Practical skills training will be completed in-class later when physical distancing restrictions have been lifted.
The course fee you have already paid covers both the online and future in-class portion of the course. You will not be required to pay anything additional when you come in for the skills training.
Upon successful completion of your online training please contact your local training provider to book your in-class practical skills session. After completing the in-class session participants will receive their full certification valid for 3 years
Participants who complete this program will have the knowledge and skills to confidently handle basic emergency situations so you know how to help in a medical emergency, when to call 911 and what to do while waiting for help to arrive. This online training has been designed like all other Lifesaver 101 programs to deliver information in a clear, concise and of course fun way while respecting the unique learning styles of adults.

Who Should Take the Course?
This online course is designed for Health Care Professionals and Health Care Students requiring First Aid & CPR and AED at a level which can be implemented in health care settings.
Course Objectives:
The purpose of this course is to provide a foundation that you can build upon when understanding the best ways to provide care to people with minor injuries. Each module follows an easy to learn format which asks the questions “WHAT IS IT? HOW DO YOU RECOGNIZE IT? HOW DO YOU TREAT IT? DO I NEED TO CALL 911?
The course is presented in 8 modules:
- Roles and Responsibilities of the First Aider
- Casualty Management, Unresponsive Casualty
- Casualty Management, Responsive Casualty
- Resuscitation – Adult, Child & Infant CPR and AED
- Choking Adult, Child & Infant
- Severe Bleeding and Wound Care
- Medical Conditions
- Burns
Evaluation Process:
At the end of each module, there is a test. Participants must achieve greater than 80% on the test before continuing to the next module. Participants that do not achieve greater than 80% on the test will not progress to the next module. Following completion of all online modules, the participant is encouraged to arrange for a practical testing session within 30 days.Upon successfully completing all modules, a proof of completion is available for print. This proof of completion must be taken to the practical session.
In order to receive your valid First Aid & CPR level HCP certification you must
- schedule a practical skill session within 30 days of completing this course – see COVID 19 Protocol above.
- Print your completion document and bring it with you to the practical skill session
- the practical skill session is in person with an instructor and will take between 3.5-4 hours to complete
Course Duration:
This online course is self-paced. Participants may leave the course at anytime and can resume where they left off. The duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge of the subject matter. On average, the course will take between 1.5 – 2 hours to complete.
Interim Course Certificate
You must complete your course registration by updating your personal profile before printing your interim course certificate. This will make sure your name appears on the interim course certificate.
